3-2-1: More Legs on Skie Erg, Hydration Matters and Morning Mindset

sent by Damian Votta I Feb 27 2025

3 Tips for HYROX Training

  1. SkiErg Mastery – Use Your Legs, Not Just Your Arms

One of the biggest mistakes on the SkiErg is hinging too much at the hips. Instead, focus on using a squat-like movement—drop into the bottom position and drive up with your legs before striking down. This will generate more power and reduce fatigue in your arms and lower back. Want a full video breakdown? Check it out in our free Hybrid Heroes group: [Insert Link Here]

  1. Hydration = Performance

A simple rule of thumb: drink 1L of water per 25kg of body weight each day. Plus, for every hour of exercise, add an extra liter. Staying hydrated improves performance, recovery, and endurance, so don’t let dehydration be the reason your training suffers.

  1. Morning Mindset Hack – Own Your Day Before It Owns You

Avoid grabbing your phone first thing in the morning. Instead, spend the first 30 minutes awake focusing on what truly matters—write down your top goals for the day. This small habit primes your mind for success, productivity, and progress. Set your focus early, and you’ll be amazed at how much more intentional your day becomes.

2 Lessons we learn this week

LESSON 1:

HYROX Race Strategy – Heart Rate is EverythingThe key to performing well in HYROX is knowing how to control your heart rate.

  • For doubles races: Shorter work periods and more transitions can help you stay fresh and efficient without maxing out too early.

  • For solo races: It’s all about pacing and refining your transitions. Find your sustainable speed and avoid early spikes in heart rate—this will make a huge difference over the full event.

LESSON 2:

Nutrition: The Performance Game-ChangerToo many HYROX athletes aren’t eating enough—and it’s costing them in performance. We’ve seen massive improvements in energy levels and endurance when people fuel properly. By tracking calories and focusing on quality nutrition, you can maintain body weight, burn fat, and perform better. Don’t make the mistake of under-fueling—it’s not just about how you look, but how well you compete.

1 Question for you

1-Are you training for the person you are today, or the athlete you want to become?

Until next week,
